What is Lavender?

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), a genus of the Lamiaceae family, is an evergreen shrub plant with blue or purple flowers. Its height varies between 20 cm and 60 cm. Lavender oil, which is an essential oil, is obtained from the fresh flower spikes of the lavender plant by steam distillation.

Anti-inflammatory compounds found in lavender oil are especially helpful with skin inflammation while its antiseptic properties speed up the recovery process and prevent infections.
